Here’s the sock yarn from Fiber Space. I microwave dyed the yarn. First I wet the yarn slightly with warm detergent water. I sprinkled the yarn with Gaywool Dye. I then sealed the yarn in plastic and microwaved the sealed yarn for 8 minutes. I then sprayed the yarn with cold water until it ran clear. I hung the rinsed yarn with weights. I love all the different effects from one dye experiment. Looking forward to socks from this experiment. I plan on kniting toe up socks on my trip to and from the mountains.

My husband gifted me with an enameled silver cross with the greek letters for Life and Light entwined. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12)

I wanted a special chain. The Kumihimo neck piece is single stands of turquoise and lime embroidery threads entwined with metallic “silver” embroidery thread. The black thread provides definition. I “capped” the ends with sterling silver caps and and silver findings.

Fiber Space yesterday, Saturday, so I got to take my Bee for a ride. The canvas tote is great. It opens suitcase style. There’s room for bobbins in the interior zipper bag. The wheel quickly pops up ready to spin.

And what was I spinning ? … sock yarn … wool and nylon.

Life has been really hectic. But…finished four weeks of teaching (what was I thinking when I thought adding 30 hours a week to my full time schedule was do-able). Had 10 for Easter dinner… But… papers are graded, grades are in, the house is back in order and I leave for the mountains in a week. Life is good!
The Mongold Spindle arrived with a surprize gift of fiber. Spins wonderfully. I’m so pleased.

I just made a marvelous eBay score. I won the bid on a rare Mongold Spindle. Can’t wait for it to arrive at it’s new home.

The Mongold spindle is reputed to be an amazing spinner. They were made from recycled materials and are no longer being made. Each is etched on it’s face with a pattern unique to that individual spindle. This Norge Mongold Spindle will soon have a new tropical home. More after it arrives.
