Fiber Space gathered yet one more time. Due to scheduling conflicts next month and then the holidays, we’ve decided to postpone meeting again until January. We were blessed with two new visitors this month. We welcome all comers and if you’re in the West Florida area, please join us. Tropical Twister

We met for the last time this year for Fiber Space. Again, a mix of projects. Vicky was working on a “tree skirt” she plans to gift to her daughter, beautiful net over gold satin; I was spinning wool/silk/seaweed for socks on my new Mason Wheel; I created the roving “buns” on the Louet Jr Carder before I got to Fiber Space; I had given Jennifer homespun which she transformed into Kumihimo braides which I displayed over the roving; and Jennifer was working on a cross stitch project, a Nut Cracker (yes, no beads BUT she intends to scatter some beads in the background). Fun to take some time for ourselves during this Christmas season.

We met earlier today …such fun. We missed regulars Gail, Vicki, and Elizabeth but were delighted by new faces; we’re growing. There is always room for more. Our next Fiber Space is Saturday, December 20 from 9 to noon. Take a break from Christmas preparations and plan to take some time for yourself.

We had rugs, and frogs, and Christmas trees, and shawls, and scarves, and …

Prayer Shawl Ministry

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:13-14

Prayer shawls provide a gift of comfort, hope, love and peace during illness and recovery, when undergoing medical procedures, during bereavement, when celebrating a marriage or birth, when honoring a graduate, or when praying or ministering to others. They may be knit, crocheted or fashioned as a quilt.

Whatever their construction, they are lavished with prayer.  Fiber Space supports Prayer Shawl Ministry of Palma Sola Presbyterian Church. (Click here to link to the Pastor’s Blog.)

We’re lost in FIBER SPACE, join us.  A group of fiber enthusiasts meet the last Saturday of every month in the Fellowship Hall of Palma Sola Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Florida.  There is no fee and all are welcome.  We have the space from 9 AM to noon, but we invite everyone to come when they can and stay as long as they can within those hours.

We spin, weave, knit, sew, bead, crochet, surface decorate, and all combinations of the same.   Everyone brings their own projects and supplies.  (We don’t store anything at the church.)  It’s great fun to share our projects with each other and to tap the wisdom of our own experts who are willing to help those of us struggling to acquire new skills.

Our next meeting in August 23, 200 (we moved it forward to avoid Labor Day weekend).  Contact me if you’d like more information.
